When airports come in mind we usually thingk of large structures, however there are sme airports which are very small and hardly meet the defination of airport besides their runway. These airports are usually in remote places or located in mountian valleys where the space is milited. Here are 10 of the world's smallest airports.

1. Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport

Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (IATA: SAB, ICAO: TNCS) is considered the smallest airport of the world it is located on the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba. It has a short runway and a small building for the operating staff. Only Jet aircraft can land at the airport, because the runway is too short,[8] but smaller STOL airplanes (such as the DHC-6, BN-2, and helicopters) can be seen on the airport. A small ramp and terminal are on the southwest flank of the runway. The ramp also has a designated helipad. The terminal building houses offices for Winair, immigration and security, a fire department with one fire truck, and a tower. The tower is an advisory service only and does not provide air traffic control. Aviation fuel is not available on the island of Saba.]

2. Charles Kirkconnell International Airport

(IATA: CYB, ICAO: MWCB) Located in the Caribbean. Travelers can enjoy air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and outdoor observation deck, and a bar-restaurant. Today, the airport services four daily flights on its single runway.The small runway is on the southwestern end of Cayman Brac, and parallels the south shoreline. Approach and departures are over the water. The Cayman Brac non-directional beacon (Ident: CBC) is located 1.0 nautical mile (1.9 km) off the approach threshold of Runway 27.

3. Moshoeshoe International Airport

Servicing the Kingdom of Lesotho, this small airport has only two runways. The airport designated as an international airport, but the only domestic flights are currently to Johannesburg from the airport. Moshoeshoe I International Airport (IATA: MSU, ICAO: FXMM) is an airport serving Maseru, the capital city of Lesotho. The airport is named in honor of Moshoeshoe I, king of Lesotho in the 1850s. It is in the town of Mazenod, 18 km (11 mi) southeast of downtown Maseru.

Runway length includes a 200 metres (660 ft) displaced threshold on Runway 04.

Mission Aviation Fellowship and South African Airways are the two airlines that service the small airport. Sitting at an elevation of nearly 5,000 feet, the airport offers a bar, restaurant, and gift shop. The shortest of the two runways comes in at about 3,000 feet.

4. Gilgit Airport

Gilgit is a unique city which has no big city in the circumference of 500 Kilometers, being in the middle of high mountain the space is very limited the 4 room airport building and short runway is all the airport has. 3 flights operate daily from Islamabad to Gilgit all flights are dependent on clear weather so many times flights do get cancelled. It serves the Hunza valley Gilgit city and Ghizar ares of Pakistan

5. Luang Prabang Airport

This small airport is located in Laos and serviced by Lao Airlines, Bangkok Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and Tonlesap Airlines. The airport features a single runway that must be shared by all the airlines. Travelers flying in and out of the airport can enjoy a restaurant and shopping facilities.

6. Morgantown Municipal Airport

This airport primarily serves general aviation. However, there is one commercial airline that connects the area to Washington Dulles International Airport. The airport offers a restaurant, free coffee, parking, and Wi-Fi. The single runway comes in at less than 2,700 feet.

7. Barra Airport

This small airport is located in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The airport is served by Flybe and has three runways. One of the runways is the only beach runway in the world capable of handling scheduled flights. The shortest runway is only 680 meters.

Even though the airport resembles little more than a hut on the beach, it offers car rentals, parking, and public transportation services. Flight times are based on the tide, so the airport is only open Monday through Saturday for a maximum of 2.5 hours each day.

8. Mohen Jo Daro Airport

The airport is fully equipped for International flights but due to lack of business the International flights which used to operate by PIA are now not operational. The airport has a small airport building, a weather tower and a small runway. Airport serves the archeological site of Mohen Jo Daro travellers use this airport for a tour of Mohen Jo Daro and also to connect to nearby city Larkana

9. Kathmandu Airport

Also a small airport due to scarcity of space in the mountainous region of Nepal, the airport is also considered the most dangerous airport as the runway is relatively short and can be tricky to land

10. Skardu Airport

Skardu International Airport (IATA: KDU, ICAO: OPSD) is a International civil airport in Skardu, Pakistan. It is connected to Pakistan's capital, Islamabad and Skardu, through regular Pakistan International Airlines flights, it also connects Skardu with Lahore,and Karachi. Skardu Airport has two asphalt runways, one 8,740 ft (2,664 m) long and the other 11,944 ft (3,641 m) long. The airport operates from dawn to dusk.
